Self-Inflicted's bow is designed with a number of considerations in mind focused around both safety and functionality.

Bow View

Foreward Deck

The forward deck is open with the twin windlasses usually covered by their heavy-water protective cover as shown in the second picture in this group
 

Sacrificial Leading Edge

One concern with a steel boat is that in the event the boat rubs against the dock it creates an invitation for corrosion. Self-Inflicted has a welded sacrificial leading edge.
